Commerce Stream was started in the college from 2010 as a self-financing programme. Dr. Rajesh Deb Barman was one of founder teachers of the college who is presently working as an Assistant Professor of Bodoland University. The Commerce Department of S.B. Deorah College is a premier institution for commerce education in the region. With a strong focus on academic excellence, and skill development, the department aims to produce highly competent and knowledgeable professionals who can make a meaningful contribution to the business world. The vision of the department is To be a leading center of commerce education, and innovation, fostering a community of scholars, practitioners, and leaders who can drive economic growth, social development, and environmental sustainability. Our Mission is to provide high-quality commerce education that combines theoretical foundations with practical applications, and to equip students with the knowledge, skills, and values necessary to succeed in their chosen careers and make a positive impact on society. Students of the stream are very cooperative, attentive, studious and intelligent. Performance of the stream is also encouraging. Many alumni from the stream are engaged in various professionals including CA, CS and other allied courses.

Objectives of the Department:

Faculty
At present the stream consists of the following teachers Rashmita Borgohain (HOD), Purabi Deka, , Trisha Moni Talukder, Shrabanee Tarafdar, Gayatri Boro. The department has a team of experienced and qualified faculty members who are experts in their respective fields. They are committed to providing high-quality teaching, research, and mentorship to students.

Infrastructure
The department has a well-equipped infrastructure, including digital classrooms, computer labs, and a library with a vast collection of books, journals, and online resources. There is also a huge collection of books in the departmental library .

Extracurricular Activities
The department encourages students to participate in various extracurricular activities, such as seminars, workshops, conferences, and cultural events, to develop their skills and interests outside the classroom.
