About S.B.Deorah Library
The S.B.DeorahCollege has a modern fully computerized central library having more than 17500 collections of text and reference books. The Library has recently shifted to a newly constructed state-of-the-art duplex building spreading over the area of around 350 square meter in the first floor. The second floor of the building is under construction. The library regularly subscribes to latest publication of books in different subject areas for Arts, Science and Commerce streams. Besides books, the Library also subscribes to a good number of periodicals and research journals pertaining to different subjects taught in the college. Popular magazines, dozensof daily and weekly regional & national newspapers etc are also available in the reading room of the library. It also has a humble collection offline electronic resources in the form of CD-ROM, DVD-ROM. Library practices Open Access System which allows the users to go to the stacks of books and can get direct access to his/her desired book. Online Public Access System (OPAC) available in the library helps them to search books using different operators like author, title, subject etc. The library serves the students, faculty and employees of the college in their curriculum preparation, leisure reading, teaching and research activities. It has a separate reading room facility for both students and teachers.
The library provides free Internet facility to the students over a number of networked computers available in the Reading Room which help them to access various online e-resources of their curriculum and also help them to develop their all-round knowledge. It has the facility to access various online e-resources through INFLIBNET�s N-LIST (National Library and Information Services Infrastructure for Scholarly Content) programme which provides access to more than 6,000 online e-journals, more than 1,60,000 e-books covering a wide range of subjects in the field of science, social science, humanity etc. Besides, the library also has an Institutional Repository (IR) cum Digital Library where publications of the college are digitised for archival and use by the academic fraternity.
The library also maintains a Book Bank Cell which has text book for the benefits of students belonging to economically weaker sections of the society. These books are issued for a full session to the bonafide students of the college. The library is also organizing user orientation programme for the freshers in order to make them familiar into the library systems and procedures.
