Department of English
The Department of English of the college has been in existence since the establishment of the college in 1984, since it is a core subject. Initially, the General English course was taught to the Three-Year Degree Course. The English Major course was introduced in 2003.The number of faculty members in sanctioned posts is 4. Currently the faculty members are:

Aims and objectives of the Department
1.The Department works with the objective of honing the communicative skills
of the students and develop proficiency
2.It aims to give the students a wide exposure to a wide array of critical perspectives and methodologies available in the discipline today.
3.It strives to strengthen listening, speaking, reading and writing skills of the students.
4.It aims to enable students to read and appreciate various forms of literature and critically interact with them from different perspectives.
6.It aims to develop analytical skills of students that can help them unravel many meanings in a literary text.
7.It attempts to acquaint the students with the social history of England.
Vision of the department
The Vision of the Department is to develop the department as a centre of academic excellence through teaching and research that encourages and nurtures literary sensibilities, language competence and critical thinking.
Mission
The mission of the department is to offer undergraduate degree programmes imparting professional knowledge, employability and life skills as well as inculcating a vision of community growth development and strong ethical values.
