Profile

1. History and Brief Profile:
The Department of Chemistry was established on August 6th, 2018, and initially had Dr. Prabha Devi as its first faculty member. Subsequently, Ms. Bhagyasmeeta Sharma joined in March 2019, followed by Dr. Jutika Devi in September 2019. Initially operating as a self-financing program, the department underwent provincialization in 2020, resulting in the creation of three permanent faculty positions. On December 21st, 2020, Dr. Sagar Sharma, Dr. Jayanta Kumar Nath, and Dr. Mamon Dey joined as faculty members to fill these positions.
Under the RUSA grant, the Department of Chemistry boasts two contemporary and well-equipped laboratory facilities dedicated to conducting practical classes for the undergraduate program. In addition to conventional classroom teaching, the department's faculty members employ modern teaching methods and smart classrooms to ensure effective comprehension of concepts by the students. To promote participatory and experiential learning, the department actively encourages students to engage in a variety of activities, including contributing content to wall magazines, participating in group discussions, and delivering seminar presentations. Additionally, the department organizes informative sessions to enlighten students about the extensive range of opportunities available to them after graduation, including competitive exams for both job placements and higher education. Many of our students are pursuing post-graduation studies in higher educational institutes within the country.
