History:
The Department of Mathematics was established in 1997, under the visionary leadership of Mrs. Anima Das, who was the founder teacher of the department. Initially, the subject was introduced only for Higher Secondary Course, but with growing demand and recognition of it’s importance, the department introduced Undergraduate General course from 2005. In 2018, the department undergoes a new journey with introduction of BSc Honours course as apart of newly introduced Science stream of the college. As endorsement for this new journey, the talented and dynamic Ms. Gayatri Bodo joined the department as a faculty in the same year and served for two years. Presently, the department consists of the following four faculty members:

The department has received an enthusiastic response from both Arts and science stream students who opt for Mathematics as either Honours or Regular course. The department cultivates a cooperative relationship between faculty and students, fostering a positive and productive learning environment.

Our mathematics department is committed to fostering a learning environment that nurtures critical thinking, problem-solving and creativity. Our Mathematics teachers endeavor tirelessly to inspire the students to develop love for Mathematics by making the subject interesting and engaging. We believe that Mathematics is not just a subject but a way of thinking. Our teachers aim to instill this belief in our students by encouraging them to explore the subject with curiosity and enthusiasm. Our lofty goal is to prepare our students to become lifelong learners who are not afraid to face any challenges and are ready to contribute to society in a meaningful way.

Mission:
The Department is committed to have successful academic career and professional development for the students. We offer various programs and services like academic advising, career counseling, arranging seminars to motivate them to achieve their goals as well to encourage them for research in future. In brief, our mission is to provide the students with top-notch Mathematics education that empowers them to become innovative thinkers, ethical thinker in their chosen fields.

Courses offered and intake:
Currently the Department offers BSc Honours and BSc Regular courses with capacity as 20 and 25 respectively.
